Lemon Scented Gum

Botanical Name: Eucalyptus citriodora; Family Myrtacae

  • Insect repellent
  • Antiviral & antibacterial
  • Powerful anti-fungal
  • Promotes adventure

Our Wild Harvested Lemon-scented Eucalyptus has a delicious, refreshing, invigorating lemon aroma with woody undertones. It imbues sweet floral hints of rose as it ages.

Lemon Scented Gum is different to all other species of eucalyptus because of the strong lemon aroma of the leaves. Distilled by Rare Earth Oils, and native to Far North Queensland, Australia, this oil has the most unique aroma of the Eucalypt family.

Hand harvested at dawn, leaves are collected before the hot winds to ensure maximum oil content in each leaf. Fresh leaves are then distilled within hours of harvesting.

Our sustainable harvest model ensures every tree’s growth. We rotate our harvest spots, allowing us to return to these locations every 1-2 years, and helps improve leaf growth, leaving the trees in great condition for the next harvest. On each harvest, there is a deep respect for the eternal spirit of this ancient species and the medicine they share.

Lemon Scented Gum has a delightful uplifting, cleansing affect on your home and spirit. It supports us to feel fresh, alive, adventurous and excited about life. Lemon Scented Gum nurtures our creativity and helps us to develop new ideas, laughter and vitality.

Historical and Traditional Uses
Perfumes, antiseptic washes, bench sprays, cleaning products, mild breathing difficulties, sore throats, laryngitis, athletes foot, cuts, dandruff, deodorising the house and as an insect repellent. Lemon Scented Gum has a delightful uplifting, cleansing affect on your home and spirit.

One of the active ingredients within the Lemon Scented Gum is a powerful insect repellent. Rare Earth Oils have been innovating to create the first wild harvested, organic, insect repellent (coming soon).
Working with the chemistry department at the James Cook University in Townsville to test and refine our insect repellent, it will be scientifically proven to go toe-to-toe with harmful chemical repellents like DEET and Picarin and offer an organic alternative that really works.

The compound Citronellal is extracted from Lemon Scented Gum and used as a source for many aromatic chemicals in the commercial perfume and soap industry.
